4pm report: Just called for Dr. Seidel and he was not available so i talked with Dr. Var who also has been working with dad. After another COVID-19 test today, it looks like dad is still testing positive. Tomorrow, there will be a meeting with the physical therapist, doctors and social workers and we will finalize our plan for discharge. We are thinking anytime between Wednesday and Friday. Once home, he will have to self-isolate for 7 days, with, as it looks as of now, no home aid medical or PT services necessary. They feel he is come along so well in the past week and has worked so hard, he will not need home therapy. They are not concerned that he is still testing positive - as we know, a person can stay positive for up to 40 days or more. There is no typical protocol - everyone is different. But for sure, a positive test will not hold off discharge. His vitals are all solid and strong and his hemoglobin numbers are working their way back up - now around 8.2 - moving in the right direction. Again, dad is in good spirits and doing what it takes to get home safely. So all good news and no glad with where we are…… Until tomorrow…
Gave my mom a COVID-19 antibody test today. It was negative - these tests cant be trusted yet.
